At the '2024 Spring Academic Conference of the Korean Society of Cardiology' held in Gyeongju on April 19th, representatives from Sky Labs, including Byunghwan Lee, unveiled Cart BP, a cuffless continuous blood pressure monitoring device. Professors Haeyeong Lee from Seoul Medical School and Shihyuk Kang from Bundang Seoul National University highlighted its efficacy and advantages.
Professor Haeyeong Lee's presentation focused on the validation of cuffless blood pressure monitoring devices. He outlined various methods available on the market, such as photoplethysmography (PPG) and electrocardiography. According to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), Cart BP has shown clinical efficacy with measurement values 95% similar to conventional blood pressure monitors, without causing discomfort during wear.
Professor Jaehyung Park from Chungnam National University Hospital discussed the challenges in diagnosing hypertension, emphasizing the importance of 24-hour blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) to mitigate white coat hypertension and masked hypertension. However, he noted the inconvenience of ABPM, particularly during nighttime measurements. Professor Park suggested Cart BP as a solution to these issues.
Professor Shihyuk Kang emphasized Cart BP's commitment to reliability through ongoing comparative studies with conventional blood pressure measurement methods.
